Recently, we have installed lightning protection on the three school buildings of Kasinde Primary School, one of the schools that we support. It has around 400 pupils.
The school is located remote on top of the Lake Bunyonyi surrounding steep hills, which makes the risk of lightning strikes very real. Early 2022, another school that we support in the area, Mwendo Primary School, was struck by lightning with serious consequences; 11 of their youngest pupils had to be treated in a hospital for burns and, of course there was also material damage. Ever since, the pupils were very scared for the same thing to happen again, but luckily we also installed lightning protection on their buildings earlier this year.
Also on behalf of the headteacher of Kasinde Primary School, Mr. Bananuka, his team and all the pupils, we thank our faithful donators whose generous donations have made this investment a possibility!
