Last week, during their most recent visit to the Batwa groups at Lake Bunyonyi, our Ugandan managers Aaron and Noah have witnessed what we have as a team been fearing for quite a while: the poor souls have now, due to the hopeless situation that the COVID-19 pandemic has caused for them, reached the point of sheer exhaustion and desperation.

Welcomed by only a few representatives of the groups, who appeared visibly weak as can be seen in the photo slider below, Aaron and Noah were explained that many of them, both adults and children, have died from weakness, caused by hunger, while others had temporarily left the settlements, desperately hoping to return with something eat for them.

Please also watch this heartbreaking video, where they share with Noah that they struggled a lot, having nothing to eat after the emergency food we brought them had all been consumed.

While we certainly do not lose sight of our other goals, we cannot abandon these poor souls, certainly not in this hopefully final phase of the pandemic, where vaccinations are carried out worldwide and we can rightly hope that tourism will start flourishing. As always, the hardest part comes in the end, that is currently also the case for the Batwa groups at Lake Bunyonyi.

The Batwa belong to the oldest surviving tribes in Africa and are very vulnerable. Ever since they were, in the nineties of the former century, evicted from the forests that had always been their homeland, they have been struggling to survive.

PLEASE MAKE A LIFESAVING DONATION TODAY THAT WILL ENABLE US TO CONTINUE OUR SO NECESSARY EMERGENCY HELP FOR THESE GROUPS, ALSO DURING THIS FINAL PHASE!

EVERY DONATION, NO MATTER HOW BIG OR SMALL WILL BE HIGHLY APPRECIATED.
