Three weeks ago, we brought the Batwa groups living at Lake Bunyonyi emergency food for the fifth time since April and as we then noticed that their situation was deteriorating very fast, we did an urgent call for help.

A few days ago Noah and Aaron, with also our youngest team member Johnson accompanying them, again made the trip to the Batwa. They were happily surprised about the return of our team after only three weeks, yet, they had unfortunately lost some of their children to hunger over these last weeks. Of course we are very saddened about that heart breaking news, which unfortunately confirms that we are rightly concerned about the situation of these completely abandoned people.

Donations that followed from our urgent call for help we have enabled us to provide more maize flour, beans and soap. On top that we could this time also include even 80 cabbages that were a generous donation of local farmer and good friend to the foundation, Gad Namara. He is a very knowledgeable farmer who my husband and I had the honor to meet during our last year’s long stay in Uganda.

Of course we thank everyone for their contributions!

We hope that after the now announced immediate reopening of Uganda’s International Airport Entebbe tourism in the country will gradually start flourishing again, which implies that the situation of the abandoned Batwa people will  then also gradually improve, so that emergency relief will at some point not be needed anymore. Yet, this is of course not going to happen overnight…

For the time being our urgent call for help remains as before.
Together we can prevent that even more of their children will die.
