As the joint team of HWMCO-Nederland & NiCA Foundation we have decided to offer our boat services for medical emergencies around Lake Bunyonyi during the current corona crisis. We are doing this in cooperation with the local district corona team.
During the current lockdown in Uganda any kind of both public and private transport are forbidden. Yet, to offer people in need of urgent medical care still opportunities to reach a hospital, every district has some cars available, managed by a local district corona team.
We are with our foundation now adding to that by offering transport over water for people from around the lake who are in urgent need of medical care; they will be transported to either Bwama Health Center on Bwama Island or to Rutinda village on the shore of the lake, from where a car of the district corona team can take them further to a hospital in Kabale town.
For example pregnant women in labor (in Uganda, every day 16 women die during childbirth) and patients suffering from high-risk conditions can be offered lifesaving help this way.
In case of a medical emergency, please call us at 0788 155769 (Noah Mubangizi) or 0773 128484 (Aaron Twinomujuni)
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS ONLY MEANT FOR EMERGENCIES.
